ASI
DATAMYTE announced today the general availability of its new Model 600 Handheld
Data Collector. The 600 is the newest
generation of ASI DATAMYTE’s long list of successful data collectors. This first release focuses on integrating and
interoperating with the company’s LightStarTM torque system. When used with LightStarTM wrenches,
the 600 measures residual torque as qualified by actual fastener rotation. This revolutionary new technology completely
eliminates false high readings due to excessive overshoot and false low
readings due to wrench release before fastener motion that plague peak residual
torque measurement systems. Additional supported applications include the
use of rotary transducers to measure power tool performance, hand assembly
setting to torque or torque plus angle, and the generation of torque/time/angle
plots to document joint performance.
This
is a step up from the 501 model, adding a high resolution color screen that
pulls crisp graphic images and data together to raise data collection
efficiency and accuracy to a higher standard.
As with previous models the rugged 600 is light, weighing in at one
pound.
“Our
customers are always challenging us to come up with ways to take error-proofing
to the next level,” says Frank Skog, ASI DATAMYTE’s product manager for the
600. “Armed with a 600, operators can
take on hundreds of fasteners and joints with confidence and speed. A 600 loaded with clear graphical
illustrations combined with detailed and relevant on-screen instructions
improves accuracy, reduces errors, and
cuts data collection and training time dramatically.”
Auditors
and operators train themselves in a fraction of the time and carry with them a
powerful resource that can answer all their questions in real time, without
requiring a trip back to their workstation or hunting down information.
The
new 600-base Data Collection system includes powerful reporting capabilities
which provide real time audit status and completion summaries. The solution is also web-based. Managers located in different plants across
the country or around the globe will have immediate access to audit and test
plan results. They’ll know which
measurements didn’t get taken and which parts are out of spec, and will be able
to react swiftly and decisively.
Used in combination with ASI DATAMYTE’s TranSend
II utility software, users can achieve automatic data harvesting – leaving no
opportunity for operator error. The
software provides automatic spec limit and configuration updates to remote data
collectors leaving no opportunity for operator error. It also lets you create and download
variables data collection setups as well as upload collected data to an Excel™
spreadsheet, tab delimited, and/or comma delimited file.
